New "Beacon to Beacon" Directory
The Beacon to Beacon Directory was a bay cruisers favourite, but sadly went out of print during Government cutbacks 18 months ago. An enterprising soul has now taken on the book, with revised maps and a new format for the old favourite. We have them available in the office for $44.95. The Government also stopped printing tide books but we have new version of these too, for just $12.00 ea.

Ceramic coatings for Engine parts
Ever had to replace a rusted manifold, exhaust elbow or other engine component? These can be seriously expensive these days. You can now protect these parts, improve airflow and extend the life of the part, as well as make them look great, with new ceramic metallic coatings. This finish does not rust and can withstand temperatures up to 1400 degrees. Our Principal has recently had manifold and exhaust elbows done on his 6 cyclinder Ford 2715 diesel, the manifold cost around $250, the 100mm diameter exhaust elbow only cost $25. These were done by the guys at Thermal Edge coating who supply a range of thermal and protective coatings. More information at their website.

Fishing Report - March
Lots happening! Heard only yesterday that lots of early season snapper are being caught around the Bay in all the usual places - the artifical reefs, eastern side of Mud Island and anywhere there are mussel banks. Big whiting have been caught around King Island, the mouth of Tingalpa creek and in the Rous Channel. Longtail tuna have been seen between the mouth of the Brisbane river and the Paddock, although Spotty Mackerel have been scarce this season. In the Brisbane River some big Threadfin salmon have been caught as far up as the Gateway Bridge and snapper along the rockwalls near the mouth. Still some prawns for the cast netters near Redland Bay and just north of the powerlines in the main channel. Offshore reports of lots of marlin well offshore, with Blues the main target off the Gold Coast.Lots of small Spanish Mackerel around offshore around rocks and headlands.
